ZELLERS SPOTS SHOW TORN ADULTS AND THINKING KIDS
By Adnews Staff
Zellers Inc. of Brampton, Ontario is launching two new television spots targeting both children and adults as part of the retailer's Christmas campaign. The commercials, from Toronto-based Ogilvy & Mather, feature the tagline "Great Brand. Great Prices." They are to be supported with in-store point-of-purchase materials. The national television effort runs until mid-December. The first English-only spot, called "Kids Thoughts" shows a boy promising Santa Claus that he will not put gum in his sister's hair or spit on his brother if the gift he is about to open is a wrestling action figure. When he opens the gift and finds the action figure, he remarks to the toy that he can still annoy his siblings by pulling hair and pinching. The second spot, running in both English and French, is called "Torn". It shows a women torn between giving as a gift a sweater she bought for a friend or keeping it for herself. The husband tells her he is having the same problem a case of beer he bought as a gift for his friend. Zellers, a wholly-owned division of Hudson's Bay Company, operates more than 340 stores across Canada. PR for Zellers is handled by hoffman + company of Toronto.
