COCA-COLA TAKING A JOURNEY THIS HOLIDAY SEASON
By Adnews Staff
Coca-Cola Ltd. is going on an adventure this holiday season. The company has released its 1999 Coca-Cola Christmas Caravan commercial entitled "Journey". The spot is the fourth in Coca-Cola's Christmas Caravan series. It features the Santa Claus image Coca-Cola had commissioned by Chicago illustrator Haddon Sundblom in 1931 and used as the basis for Santa Claus as he is known today. "Journey" began airing last week around the world. The commercial was created by W.B. Doner & Co. of Southfield, Michigan and adapted for the Canadian market by Cossette Communications Toronto and Montreal offices. The commercial features a grandfather with his grandson cradled in his lap. The two are seen sharing a moment reading a holiday story in front of the fireplace in the family room when all of a sudden the scene is flooded with bright light and the "journey" begins. According to Coca-Cola the commercial is designed to create the spirit of the holidays in a magical winter wonderland setting. "Journey" will air throughout the holiday season.
