YTV COUNTING DOWN MILLENNIUM MINUTES
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Cable Television Association, the Canadian Millennium Partnership Program, A&E, Cable in the Classroom and YTV have joined together in counting down the "Millennium Minutes". The national, bilingual initiative is designed to encourage grade five and six students to submit a one minute story idea to their local community channel. The channels will then choose a selection of submissions and work with kids in creating spots for broadcast on the community channel. YTV's participation in the initiative included the creation of the Millennium Minutes logo that will be used for both print and on-air applications, the production of a one minute promotional spot, the development of the opening and closing segments to be wrapped around the "Minute" and a dedicated Web page on YTV's Web site at <http://www.ytv.com>. Promotional spots will be seen on local community channels and YTV. The opening and closing segments will be included in the "Minute" produced by the community channel and the logo will be seen on all printed material distributed to schools across Canada. The deadline for students to submit an idea about their local heritage is January 31, 2000.
