NINTENDO OF CANADA GOES APE OVER NEW GAME

Vancouver-based Nintendo of Canada is bringing back one of its favorite game characters with a brand new look. Donkey Kong 64 is the newest game for the Nintendo 64 game console. Developed by Rare Ltd. of the U.K., the game features a banana yellow housing and comes packaged with the N64 Expansion Pak. To coincide with the launch of Donkey Kong 64, Nintendo is releasing a limited edition Donkey Kong 64 hardware bundle including a transparent "jungle green" housing for the N64 console and controller. The limited edition bundle includes an N64 control deck, one controller, the expansion pak and a special edition banana yellow Donkey King 64 game pak. The return of Nintendo's Donkey Kong character is being supported with 60-second Famous Players cinema advertising spots, print ads in teen and news magazines, an eight week television teaser campaign featuring 30- and 60-second spots, an additional 30-second television spot launching December 1 and through on-air promotions with YTV in English Canada and SRC in French Canada. Advertising, supported with sampling in Famous Players theatres and a national mall tour, is done by Leo Burnett of Toronto.
