By Adnews Staff
SUMmedia.com Inc. of Vancouver has big plans for the year 2000. The Internet media and marketing company intends to promote its eCoupon portal <http://www.SavingUMoney.com> with a new $5 million advertising campaign. The plan includes both traditional and online advertising that will run in the Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Victoria and Kelowna markets. Additional plans for the eCoupon portal include a $500,000 advertising campaign in the Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary markets that will run before the end of the year. Advertising plans for both the end of 1999 and the year 2000 include online, newspaper, radio, television, specialty television and outdoor. This will be the first time the company has included television in its advertising plans. In addition, SUMmedia.com is looking for "unexpected" and "unusual" ways to reach its audience. One method will be advertising on rink boards in 16 hockey and skating rinks in the Calgary region. The company's advertising plans for 2000 also extend beyond Canadian borders. A January launch of a Hong Kong advertising campaign is planned, to be followed by a February launch of a Seattle campaign and a March launch of an Australian campaign. Advertising for SUMmedia.com is handled by its advertising agency-of-record Palmer Jarvis DDB, with PJDDB's worldwide DDB affiliates handling any adaptation of ads and media buys in markets outside of Canada.
