SEARS PUTS AD BUSINESS ON THE MARKET
By Adnews Staff
According to a report in yesterday's Globe & Mail, Toronto-based retailer Sears Canada has put its advertising business on the market launching an agency review for the account. The article states Sears decided to review its agencies because of its plan to buy the T. Eaton Company. Sears' vice president of retail advertising said the company would come out with two specific brands for two specific target customers. Sears' current agencies Young & Rubicam, which handles media buying and creative work and Ammirati Puris Lintas, which handled Sears' Whole Home Furniture chain are both reported to be vying for the account. The article reports a shortlist is expected to be prepared and a decision made the beginning of next year. Not up for review is the retailer's print ad, promotional flyers or catalogue businesses. All are handled in-house.
