MEDIA METRIX'S QUEST FOR INTERNATIONAL EXPANSION

Media Metrix of Long Island, New York has announced a joint venture with ComQUEST Research of Toronto that will see Media Metrix expand into the Canadian market, continuing the company's international expansion plans. The joint venture will see Media Metrix, which uses a metering methodology to measure Internet and digital media user behavior, partner with ComQUEST, a market and new media research firm, to form Media Metrix Canada. The two companies will combine their resources and expertise to provide independent, meter-based Internet and digital media audience measurement services for Canada. According to the company, Media Metrix Canada is the first service to begin actively recruiting, measuring and collecting data from a representative panel of Canadian Internet users by means of tracking software which resides on panelists' computers. Media Metrix says it is the only meter-based research company actively measuring Internet users in multiple regions of the world including the United States, Europe, Australia and, shortly, Canada.
