BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE SEARCHING FOR CANADIAN ANGELS

Bridgestone/Firestone Canada Inc. of Mississauga, Ontario has begun its annual national search for Canadian truck driving heroes with a new logo and a new name for the award. The Canadian Truck Hero Award is designed to identify Canadian truck drivers who are worthy of special recognition. The new logo for the award shows a truck with a gold halo over the tractor cab, designed to illustrate the "hero" aspect and the altered name, which now includes the word "Canadian", is designed to reflect the Canadian aspect of the award. The new logo was created by Spinnaker Graphics of Mississauga, Ontario. Spinnaker also created an information brochure that was used in a direct mail campaign to members of the six provincial trucking associations. BO'NAFIDE Communications Inc. also of Mississauga, Ontario, is public relations agency-of-record for Bridgestone. It launched a direct mail campaign to promote the award through the Canadian Association of Police Chiefs. The event which leads to the nomination must have taken place between October 1, 1998 and September 30, 1999. Nominations must be received by October 29, 1999. The Hero Award winner will be announced at the Ontario Trucking Association's general meeting on November 17. Bridgestone/Firestone has been honoring Canadian Truck Drivers with the Canadian Truck Hero Award for the past 43 years.
