PALMER DDB JARVIS TRIO START TO RETHINK
By Adnews Staff
The creative team that has spearheaded campaigns such as the peeing dog commercial for Greyhound Air, the Richmond Savings Humungous Bank campaign and outrageous spots for Vancouver's Playland Amusement Park, has started to "rethink". Chris Staples and Ian Grais, national creative director and creative director respectively, in partnership with Tom Shepansky, director of client services, have said goodbye to Palmer Jarvis DDB Vancouver and formed their own agency. Rethink has already established a small roster of clients including two Internet start-up companies based in Vancouver. The newly formed agency intends to focus on ideas that can span various advertising media. According to Grais, if an idea is good, it should work everywhere, from a billboard to the Internet. As a result of the controversial advertising Staples and Grais created, Palmer Jarvis rose from 49th place in Canada's creative awards standing to first place, a position it has held for the past two years. "We're extremely proud at what we accomplished at Palmer Jarvis. A lot of our ideas were non-traditional but they worked. We want to continue to break new ground with Rethink," Staples said. The new agency will open for business out of its Vancouver office on November 1.
