IBM DESIGNING DANIER LEATHER WEB SITE
By Adnews Staff
IBM Canada Ltd. of Markham, Ontario has been hired by leather fashion manufacturer and retailer Danier Leather Inc. of Toronto to create an e-commerce website. IBM won the assignment over two other unnamed competitors, Jeffrey Wortsman, president of Danier Leather, told Andews. Web cameras will be used to allow customers to move through a virtual store, zoom-in on products and purchase items online. These features will be added to Danier's existing website, originally created by Cyberplex Inc., at <http://www.danier.com>, by November 1999. "Danier sells a unique product and our goal is to become a global retailer," said Wortsman. "We chose to work with IBM because of its e-business and retail expertise and its ability to build secure websites. Globally, consumers trust the IBM brand and it gives them confidence when shopping online." The retail consumer consulting practice at IBM Canada offers a variety of consulting services for the retail and consumer packaged goods sectors.
