Grand Toys of Montreal has introduced the French version of the interactive Furby toy that was first introduced last year. The French speaking Furby will be the same as its English version, in that it can interact with humans as well as with other Furbys through infrared signals. Initially, Furby will only speak "Furbish" until it learns to communicate using French words. It will have a vocabulary of almost 200 Furbish and French words and sounds, which will generate more than 800 phrases. Furby can also move and dance, as well as open and close its eyes, wiggle its ears and move its mouth when speaking. When two Furbys are interacting they can teach each other tricks and songs. In Canada, Furby is distributed by Grand Toys. The new French Furbys will be available at major retailers by the end of the week. Grand Toys is working with its retailers in promoting the new Furby. A French print ad by Zellers broke yesterday. Additional advertising by Grand Toys is planned for later in the year. Advertising for Grand Toys is done by Bozell Worldwide of Toronto.
