JWT MILLER WIN RESULTS IN MOLSON REMOVAL

Toronto-based Molson Canada has announced that J. Walter Thompson has been removed from the brewery's shortlist of advertising agencies competing for the Molson Canadian and Molson Export business in Canada. JWT had previously been shortlisted with Bensimone Byrne D'Arcy of Toronto and St. Louis, hhcl and partners of London, England, Leo Burnett of Toronto and Chicago and Taxi Advertising & Design of Toronto. A decision was expected in September from senior Molson executives conducting the review. "JWT Chicago has just become a Miller agency and key resource people from that office who had been identified to work on the Molson accounts in Canada are now designated to work on Miller's brands. Therefore, we can not proceed with consideration of JWT as a contender for our business," said Molson spokesperson Marilyn McCrea. JWT officials could not be reached for comment before press time.
