PHANTOM MENACE ANTICIPATION GROWS

Toronto-based Famous Players Inc. is preparing for the heightened anticipation of Star Wars fans waiting for the upcoming premier of Star Wars: Episode 1 The Phantom Menace by playing the film at 36 of its theatres across Canada. The official opening of the film is set for 12:01 a.m. on May 19. Famous Players will be scheduling a marathon 24 hours of round-the-clock showtimes at 20 locations across the country. Advance ticket sales will be available as of 3 p.m. Wednesday May 12 on-site at SilverCity, Colossus and Coliseum theatres exhibiting the film. Additional theatres offering the film, will offer tickets through Moviephone and the Alien Ticket Machine. Empire Theatres of Stellarton, Nova Scotia, has also announced advance ticket sales for the Star Wars prequel on May 12 and 13, for performances on May 19 and 20th at all theatres set to open the film on May 19. Empire Theatres, an Atlantic Canada cinema chain with 19 locations in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island, is setting a 12 ticket maximum on advance ticket purchases. Regular admission prices will be in effect for the film.
