BURGER KING UNDERGOES TRANSFORMATION

Burger King Corp. of Miami is remodeling its chain of 10,000 restaurants with a new look, both inside and out. The plans include a new cooking platform, initiatives to speed up drive-thru service and changes to the interior and exterior of restaurants. The new image will include exterior design, indoor decor, new uniforms, packaging, a playground concept and a new logo, updating the old logo that has been in use for more then three decades. Included in the plans are new preview and menu boards, clear-view bags for drive-thru that allow the customer to see that the order is complete, an "amount owed" display, more comfortable dinning rooms and a virtual fun centre which will include computer games for kids. The plans, which were unveiled at the company's annual meeting, are designed to continue to strengthen the brand. The company plans to begin remodeling its Orlando, Florida restaurants this month. The new logo was created by the Sterling Group of Manhattan. It updates the previous "bun halves" logo to include larger lettering and the addition of a third color (blue). It is also set on an angle to suggest motion and dimension. Burger King Corp. operates in 53 countries and international territories around the world.
