PROCTER & GAMBLE CELEBRATE 40 YEARS OF MR. CLEAN
By Adnews Staff
Procter & Gamble of Toronto plans to celebrate Mr. Clean's 40th birthday by sending Mr. Clean on tour to introduce a new springtime fresh scent all purpose cleaner. The Mr. Clean character, famous for his bald head, gold earring, white outfit and twinkle in his eye, made his debut in advertising in 1959. Since then, according to P&G, times have changed. "To respond to the changing needs of Canadians, Mr. Clean has been formulated as an all purpose cleaner that works harder to make cleaning easy," Canadian brand manager for Mr. Clean, Guy Persaud said in a release. A nationwide search last year to find Mr. Clean lookalikes took place. As part of the celebrations this year, the nine-member team will make appearances in grocery, department and drug stores across Canada promoting the new scent with free samples. A television campaign has also been developed by Grey Canada of Toronto to promote the new scent. PR for Procter & Gamble is handled by Advanced Planning & Communications of Toronto.
