Westin Hotels and Canadian Airlines International of Calgary have teamed up to offer Canadian Plus members 1,000 points every time they stay at one of Westin's properties worldwide. As a bonus, members will receive double points when they stay at participating Westin hotels in Canada through April 30, 1999. Canadian also has an on-going partnership with the five other Starwood branded hotels: Sheraton Hotels, Four Points Hotels, The Luxury Collection, Caesars and W Hotels. Members of Starwood's new frequent guest program, called Starwood Preferred Guest, allows guest to accumulate points and redeem awards at participating hotels. To promote the new partnership, a global campaign has been planned including magazine and newspaper ads, television commercials, airport and billboard posters, Internet ads and in room broadcasting. In Canada, the campaign was done by Ogilvy & Mather of New York, while the media buy was handled by the agency's Toronto office.

Canadian Plus members will also have the chance to win 500,000 points when they stay at the new Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire, Calgary's newest hotel. Each time a member stays at the Eau Claire until April 30, their name will be entered in the Super Suite Sweepstakes for the grand prize of 500,000 points. Second and third prizes are also available to be won, including a weekend for two in the Sheraton Suites Imperial Presidential Suite complete with return airfare from anywhere in North America, limousine transfer to and from the Calgary International Airport and full butler service while staying at the hotel. The Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire is owned and operated by Pacrim Developments Inc., under a license issued by Starwood Hotels and Resorts.
