IBM LAUNCHES NEW PC

IBM Canada Ltd., of Markham, Ont. has announced the newest addition to the Aptiva E Series family. Called the Aptiva 140, the machine features an AMD K6-2 processor, 4.2 GB hard drive and 32X maximum CD-ROM drive. The space-saving CPU is as slim as a briefcase, which is ideal for anywhere that space is a concern. The system comes with Lotus SmartSuite Millennium, including Word Pro for word processing, 1-2-3 Spread Sheet, Freelance Graphics for presentations, Organizer for time management and FastSite, which allows users to publish existing SmartSuite files to the Internet. The 140 has been available at retail stores across Canada since the start of the month. Consumers who purchase the 140 before April 4, will also be eligible for a $100 mail-in rebate. Advertising for the Aptiva 140 will use print ads in newspapers, in-store promotions and Web advertising. The agency for IBM in Canada is Ogilvy & Mather of Toronto.
