DAVID CAIRNS AND COMPANY JOINS CARAT

David Cairns and Company of Toronto has expanded its business. The company started the year by joining Carat, a media buying and planning company based in London, England. Carat bought a minority stake in David Cairns and Company, which now gives Carat a strong North American presence. Carat entered Canada last June through an alliance with Carat Strategem of Montreal. David Cairns, president of the five year old Toronto agency said in a release that "this is a logical step for the company. This association allows us to benefit from the international trend of global marketing decisions, while giving our Canadian clients access to the top international research and media knowledge.". David Cairns and Company counts Fidelity Investments, MasterCard Canada and Mercedes-Benz among its major clients. Some of Carat's major North American clients include: America On-line, Pfizer, Midas, Jenny Craig, ReMax and CBS. Cairns will remain president of the new agency and a 51% shareholder in the company which will be called Carat Cairns.
