COMPANY SELLS INSURANCE OVER THE PHONE
By Adnews Staff
The Co-operators Group of Toronto is rolling out its DirectProtect telephone service across Ontario next year to sell its insurance over the wires. The service is currently being tested in Kingston and London, both of Ontario. A campaign was launched in those to cities on Sept. 18 to promote DirectProtect using TV, print and direct mail created by Wunderman Cato Johnson of Toronto. The TV commercial begins with someone sitting at their kitchen table looking at a home insurance policy and not understanding it. The DirectProtect tiny man senses this, walks out of the telephone and recommends they call the service's 1-800 number. Currently, the line is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. When the service rolls out across Ontario, it will be open 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week.
