PAGEMART UNVEILS PREPAID SERVICE

Toronto-based PageMart Canada Ltd. moved into the prepaid market this week. The paging company launched a prepaid paging service called PowerPage. Under the deal, customers purchase prepaid paging cards in increments of 50, 100 or 200 pages. The customer then calls PageMart to activate the card, and can also phone in to get an update on their account. The prepaid card also features extended local numeric paging coverage, 12-hour voice mail and a personalized greeting. In the new year, customers will be able to get an update on their account on the Internet. Currently, PowerPage is being promoted using co-op advertising with retailers. In the spring, PageMart will launch a campaign for the service using print ads and flyers. The company hasn't decided yet what agency will handle the campaign. PageMart hires agencies on a project basis.
