DENTSU IN DISCUSSIONS WITH LEO BURNETT

Tokyo-based Dentsu Inc. has announced that it has begun negotiations to establish a business relationship with Leo Burnett Co. of Chicago. The details of the business relationship are still being discussed, but the two have acknowledged that Dentsu may purchase a minority stake in Leo Burnett. Dentsu officials were unavailable to comment on how the move would affect the Canadian offices of both agencies, if at all. In Canada, Dentsu is known as Dentsu-Cadence of Toronto. The agency is 50% owned by Dentsu and 50% owned by Cadence Communications.
