OAB TO MAKE CHANGES

The Ontario Association of Broadcasters is embarking on a study to find out how it can improve itself. OAB president Ross Davies says in a release that the organization has been negatively affected by industry consolidation. The OAB says consolidation has caused a drop in membership levels and directly impacts the OAB's mission and purpose as a regional organization. The study will help OAB gain an understanding of what it needs to do for future growth to provide value to its members and the industry. The study will be conducted by NextMedia of Toronto. It will begin immediately and be presented at OAB's annual meeting on March 5. The OAB was established in 1950 serving a majority of radio and TV stations in Ontario. Services provided to members include the monitoring of provincial and federal legislation and regulations, as well as lobbying initiatives The organization hosts an annual conference and presents annual awards recognizing programming excellence.
