BATTERY DEPOT CHANGES NAME
By Adnews Staff
Battery Depot of Calgary has changed its name to Battery World Canada and may look for an agency to help promote the chain once it has more stores. The battery retailer changed the name of the company because it was already trademarked to another individual, and it didn't seem appropriate for the stores, company spokesperson Gordon Ball told Adnews this week. The word depot makes it sound like the stores are large when in fact they are small specialty shops, he said. Battery World will likely look for an ad agency in about a year when it has more stores. Currently, it does little advertising, and when it does, it is created in-house. Battery World operates four stores in Alberta, with a fifth opening in Edmonton later this month. Five more outlets will open next year in British Columbia, Regina and possibly Ontario. The retailer plans to open another 75 stores across Canada over the next four years.
