INTERNET GROWING IN POPULARITY FOR EUROPEAN WOMEN

More and more European women are using the Internet, according to a study done by inter-net Trak. About 40% of the respondents using the Internet for the first time are women. This compares to 14% two years ago. Among 14 to 17-year-olds, the number of women going online reached 47%. Of those who have never surfed the Web, 57% are eager to do so. In France, 52% of non-users wanting to log on are female adults, while the proportion in Germany is 48%. Web penetration in the U.K. has reached 15% of the adult population, about the same level as in the U.S. two years ago. About eight million Web users in Britain are older than 14 years of age, while 7.3 million Germans and 4.2 million French citizens fall within that age group. The study was commissioned by Yahoo!
