HASBRO GAME TURNS F-I-F-T-Y

U.S.-based Hasbro Inc. is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its Scrabble crossword game. The company has introduced the 50th Anniversary Edition of Scrabble. The game features a redesigned board with new colors, turntable, custom tiles, a three-minute digital timer and an official Word List book. In Canada, the new game is being promoted using a major PR push done by The Agency of Mississauga, Ont. In addition, a tag has been put on existing TV commercials for the game. The TV ads were handled by U.S.-based Griffin Bacal Inc. Hasbro says it has sold over 100 million Scrabble games around the world since it was invented. Up to two million Scrabble games are sold each year in North America. The game is available in 30 different languages and several editions including Standard, Junior, CD-ROM, Deluxe Travel and Deluxe with Turntable Editions.
