CANADIANS FEELING FINANCIALLY WARY
By Adnews Staff
Two out of three Canadians feel they are just making it or falling behind financially, according to a survey done for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Sixty percent of respondents said the declining value of the dollar has had a great deal of impact on their financial plans and attitudes, while 58% said they expect to pay higher health care costs because of government cutbacks. Fifty-seven percent of respondents are worried they don't have enough savings for retirement. Of those holding long term mutual funds, 21% said they would consider selling their funds if they dropped in value by 10%, while slightly more than half would sell if the value dropped 20%. The survey was done by Compas Inc., which polled 1,007 Canadians across the country in mid-September.
