GLOBE AND MAIL SAYS CHANGES ARE WORKING

The Globe and Mail says its doing things right. The daily newspaper has reported that circulation jumped 9% in July when it added color to the newspaper and increased by 7% in August. In addition, 90% of Globe and Mail readers are very satisfied with the changes the newspaper has made. More than 70% of readers said the most significant improvements to the paper are layout and organization, the new Column One feature, new columnists, new summaries of national and world events, expanded Sports coverage and increased local news. Over the past year, The Globe and Mail has increased its Sports section, added a Leisure feature to its Arts section, began publishing a weekly personal health section, launched a weekly Technology section and added two features to its Report on Business section: Enterprise, which focuses on entrepreneurial business news and issues, and Smart Numbers, which reports on national statistical trends.
