MICROSOFT UNVEILS YEAR 2000 PRODUCTS

U.S.-based Microsoft Corp. will launch its Office 2000 line of products to the worldwide market in the first quarter of next year. There will be five product suites available: Office 2000 Premium, Professional, Small Business, Standard and Developer. The Premium suite of products allows organizations to implement Web-enabled information sharing, collaborate on documents using an Intranet and create and manage Web sites with graphics. Office 2000 Premium features Word 2000, Excel 2000, Outlook 2000, the PowerPoint 2000 presentation graphics program, Access 2000, Publisher 2000, Office Small Business Tools, FrontPage 2000 and PhotoDraw 2000. The Professional suite of products allows users to publish and share documents on the Web. It features Word 2000, Excel 2000, Outlook 2000, PowerPoint 2000, Access 2000, Publisher 2000 and Office Small Business Tools. Office 2000 Small Business features Word 2000, Excel 2000, Outlook 2000, Publisher 2000 and Office Small Business Tools. Office 2000 Standard is for organizations with basic computer needs, while Office 2000 Developer is designed for developers building solutions that customize, automate and integrate Microsoft Office. Developer includes Office 2000 Premium. In Canada, Microsoft will confirm its advertising plans for the 2000 line of products in January. Canadian advertising for Microsoft is handled by The Communiqué Group, while PR is done by Hill & Knowlton, both of Toronto. Microsoft Canada spokesperson Ann McKeon told Adnews yesterday that the campaign will likely use print and online advertising.
