TODAY'S PARENT TARGETS GRANDPARENTS WITH NEW MAGAZINE

Today's Parent Group of Toronto will launch a new magazine for grandparents in January. Called Today's Grandparent, the quarterly magazine will have a circulation of 200,000, with 180,000 copies being distributed for free through Shoppers Drug Mart stores across Canada and the remaining 20,000 having a national controlled distribution. The magazine is targeted to grandparents over the age of 50 who have grandchildren under the age of 12. Editorial will focus on lifestyle and family issues, craft and cooking ideas, grandchild development and discipline, as well as investment and vacationing features. Beth Thompson has been named editor of Today's Grandparent. She joined Today's Parent in 1997 as corporate projects editor. Cheryl Weaver has been appointed publisher of the magazine. Most recently she was associate publisher and advertising director of Today's Parent magazine.
