ROGERS AND E*TRADE TO GIVE AWAY $30,000

Rogers New Media and E*Trade Canada have joined forces to give away $30,000 in a Web site contest. To enter the contest, called Stocks@Play, users must log into Rogers' Quicken.ca Web site. The contest consists of a series of six games running from Oct. 9 to April. The registered player who trades and has the greatest portfolio appreciation at the end of the first game wins $30,000. Other prizes will be given away for the following games. The contest is being promoted using banner ads on various Internet networks. The ads were created in-house by Quicken. The media buy for the ads was handled by McManus Elliot Communications of Toronto, which is also handling PR. Quicken.ca is a personal finance Web site. Users have access to commentaries from industry experts, discussion forums, up-to-the-minute news and educational materials. Quicken.ca is the result of an exclusive licensing agreement between Intuit Canada and Rogers. Intuit Canada is a developer of personal finance, small business accounting and tax preparation software. Its products are sold under the Quicken brand name. E*Trade Canada is a consumer online investing service.
