MCDONALD'S OPENS FOR BUSINESS IN LEBANON

U.S.-based McDonald's Restaurants opened its first restaurant in Beirut late last month. The fast food giant is expected to open a second restaurant in Lebanon by the end of the year and possibly another eight outlets over the next few years. McDonald's plans to open up to 60 restaurants a year in the Middle East. Security around the first restaurant is heavy, with government-supplied uniformed guards at the entrance. Other fast food chains in Lebanon include Hardees and Kentucky Fried Chicken.
