ZNAIMER TO RECEIVE BROADCAST EXCELLENCE AWARD

Broadcast producer Moses Znaimer has won the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' 1998 Gold Ribbon for Broadcast Excellence award. The award recognizes innovative achievements, imagination, dedication and hard work, as well as genuine concern for the highest broadcast standards. Znaimer is co-founder, president and executive producer of CityTV, MuchMusic, MuchMoreMusic, MusiquePlus and MusiMax, as well as Bravo!, Space, the Imagination Station and CablePulse 24. He is also development vice-president at CHUM Ltd. of Toronto. In addition, Znaimer has launched MuchaMusica, a Spanish language pop music joint venture seen in Argentina and Finland. He led a bid to privatize Alberta' public educational television service, ACCESS and is now chairman. Znaimer also took over creative direction of CKVR of Barrie, Ont., a 40-year-old CBC TV station. The channel is now known as The New VR. Similar work is now underway for TV stations in Ottawa, London, Windsor and Wingham, all in Ontario. Znaimer will accept the award during the CAB convention at Broadcasting 98 on Nov. 3 in Vancouver.
