TOURISM SPENDING ON THE RISE

Tourism spending grew to $817 million during the second quarter of the year, a 7.6% growth compared to the same period last year, according to the National Tourism Indicator's estimates. Spending by Canadians at home jumped 4.3%, reaching almost $7.6 billion, while foreign spending increased by 15% to $3.9 billion. Overall, tourism pumped $11.5 billion into the Canadian economy.
