MICROCELL UNVEILS PREPAID SERVICE

Microcell Solutions of Montreal added a prepaid service to its personal communications services this week. Called Fidomatic, the service includes a $50 Ericsson PCS handset, a $25 smart card and a $25 airtime voucher. Airtime vouchers are also available for $10 and $50. Calls cost 35 cents per minute and are calculated by the second. Fidomatic will be available in Montreal, Quebec City, Sherbrooke, Que. and the Ottawa-Hull region. It will be rolled out to all markets served by Microcell in Canada over the next few weeks. Fidomatic will be promoted using TV, radio and transit ads created by BOS of Montreal. The ad concept is different from previous ads done for Microcell. The new campaign will feature a gas pump filling up a wireless handset. Until now, Microcell has featured dogs that look like their owners in its ad campaigns, and most recently, began using cats.
