BBDO SNAGS BEEF ACCOUNT

Toronto-based BBDO Canada is going to be encouraging Canadians to eat beef. The agency was recently handed the $3 million Beef Information Centre account. BBDO won the business after a competition with Ammirati & Puris/Lintas, Grey Canada and Leo Burnett Co., all of Toronto. Sixteen-year incumbent, Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising of Toronto, did not participate in the review. "We really liked their commitment to account planning and the strategic thinking that BBDO has to offer, and look forward to their creative capability," BIC executive manager Carolyn McDonell says in a release. "We were very impressed with their creative team and the work they have done for clients like Campbell's and Chrysler." BIC is the marketing arm of the Cattleman's Association. Its mandate is to increase the sale of beef and beef products in order to maximize consumer demand. This involves developing and implementing programs to inform consumers, promote and advertise beef across Canada and develop new products.
