MULTIMEDIA ASSOCIATIONS TO FORM NATIONAL ORGANIZATION
By Adnews Staff
The Interactive Multimedia Arts and Technologies Association and the Association des Producteurs en Multimedia du Quebec have teamed up to form a national organization to unite multimedia producers. Once the group has been set up, it will work to strengthen the industry's relations with the government and deal with issues such as intellectual property. "Given the fierce competition on the international scene, it is imperative that all Canadian partners in the new media industry share a common vision so they can interact effectively," APMQ president Paul Allard says in a release. "Our desire to carry out this project and move quickly to take action will stimulate the overall development of new media." "By facilitating the exchange of ideas and the search for innovative solutions to deal with the various issues in our industry, this organization will enable Canada to maintain its leadership position as a creator of interactive contact, which will, in turn, benefit the entire Canadian economy," IMAT president Aurel Langlois says in a release. IMAT was formed in January 1995. It represents almost 700 multimedia practitioners across Canada. APMQ was established last April and includes over 65 producers of multimedia content.
