ROGERS OFFERS ONE RATE FOR ONE CONTINENT

Toronto-based Rogers Cantel has simplified the rates for long distance calling so customers don't have to worry about long distance charges, roaming fees or time restrictions. Called the Cantel AT&T One Rate program, there are two plans to choose from: the Digital One Rate and Canadian One Rate. The Digital One Rate plan offers one rate calling between two points anywhere in Canada and the continental U.S. For example, calls from Ottawa to Washington are billed at the same rate as calls from Vancouver to Halifax. The Digital One Rate plan is targeted to business travelers who don't want to be bothered with calling cards, credit cards, pay phones or hotel phones when they are on the road. Under the Canadian One Rate plan, customers can call from Canada to anywhere within Canada or the continental U.S. This plan is targeted to customers who don't necessarily travel throughout the U.S., yet still make a number of long distance calls throughout the continent. Both plans have the same pricing. For $75 a month, customers will receive 250 minutes of calling and a 30 cents-a-minute rate. For $150 a month, they will receive 600 minutes of calling and a minute rate of 25 cents. For $300 a month, subscribers will receive 1,500 minutes of calling and a minute rate of 20 cents. Rogers will promote the One Rate program using TV and print ads beginning Oct. 5. The campaign will be created by Gee, Jeffery & Partners Advertising of Toronto. Groupaction of Montreal handles Quebec advertising for Cantel.
