WORKERS COMPENSATION BOARD PROMOTES SAFETY

The British Columbia Workers Compensation Board is trying to prevent work-related injuries and deaths. The organization launched a TV campaign in B.C. this week that uses personal testimonials to send home the message that workplaces must be safe. The campaign uses three ads created by Cossette Communication Marketing's Vancouver office. One ad features a mother who lost her 20-year-old son in a workplace accident. Another highlights a 21-year-old man who lost both of his legs and the third ad talks about a woman with her two children who lost her husband in a work-related accident. The ads also promote a 1-800 number for employers and workers to get more information on workplace health and safety. According to the WCB, three workers are killed on the job each week, 16 workers are permanently disabled every day and 751 workers are injured every day.
