INSURANCE COMPANY UNVEILS FLAT RATE, NO COMMISSION PLAN
By Adnews Staff
Pure Insure of Toronto recently launched a commission-free, flat rate travel health insurance plan for Canadians that fly south for the winter. Called the Pure Insure Emergency Travel Health Insurance Plan, the program charges one flat rate per age. For example, a 70-year-old man with a $250,000 policy would pay $2.10 per day regardless of how long he was traveling. Pure Insure president Peter Buchanan told Adnews yesterday that most insurers charge a higher daily rate for snowbirds traveling for longer periods of time. In addition, other insurers offer $1 million and $5 million policies, which Buchanan says isn't needed. Pure Insure offers $250,000 and $500,000 policies. Pure Insure covers all medical emergencies including air-ambulance, local ambulance, private duty nursing and return of vehicle. The plan will be promoted using direct mail handled in-house.
