SOUTHAM GIVES NEW PAPER A NAME

Toronto-based Southam Inc.'s new national daily newspaper has a name. The broadsheet paper will be called the National Post and it will be launched on Oct. 27. "The name is a powerful statement about our intention to be an authoritative national voice, while maintaining the business reporting excellence of The Financial Post," COO Don Babick says in a release. The National Post will be printed in nine locations across Canada and be available by home delivery in every major market. Its Internet address will be <http://www.nationalpost.com>. The National Post will be published from Monday through Saturday and will cover Canadian and international news, business, investment, sports, arts, entertainment and life.
