COMPAQ PROMOTES STORAGE AND NEW NOTEBOOKS

Compaq Canada of Richmond Hill, Ont. launched two national print campaigns this week, one focusing on its system and storage solutions and the other featuring its Armada 7400 notebook computer. The campaign promoting its system and storage solutions targets IS managers. Its aim is to position Compaq as the company committed to managing technological changes for its customers. The headline says: "It's 11:00 PM, do you know where your data is?" The visual shows a man lying in bed with a very concerned look on his face. The copy highlights the benefits of Compaq's testing, pre-failure warranty and Pentium II Xeon-based ProLiant 7000 server. The ad focusing on the Armada 7400 uses the headline: "How can something be both greater and less than?" The visual is black and red and shows a side view of two Armada 7400 notebook computers to look like the 'more than' and 'less than' mathematical symbols. The copy highlights the capabilities and benefits of the computer, as well as the durability of its magnesium alloy casing. The tagline for this ad is: Less than six pounds of super-sleak, super-powerful notebook: The Armada 7400 truly has no equal." The campaign was created by Palmer Jarvis DDB of Vancouver.
