AT&T GETS IN LINE WITH OTHER PHONE COMPANIES
By Adnews Staff
AT&T Canada of Toronto is now the third telephone company to offer an unlimited long distance calling plan. Called Dime Time Unlimited, customers pay 10 cents a minute for all their evening and weekend long distance calls in Canada, up to $20 a month. To encourage new customers to sign up for the plan, AT&T will offer them 15,000 Zellers Club Z points or 2,000 Aeroplan miles. This promotion will run until Sept. 30. Other features of the plan include an additional 5% discount for customers who pay by credit card or pre-authorized payment, and 20 cents a minute for daytime calls across Canada and anytime in the U.S. Dime Time Unlimited will be promoted using free standing inserts and print ads created by Young & Rubicam of Toronto. Bell Canada began offering an unlimited long distance plan late last month. Under its plan, customers pay 10 cents a minute for evening and weekend calls across Canada, up to $20 a month. Sprint Canada started the price war earlier this summer when it launched an unlimited plan, offering customers evening and weekend calls across Canada for $20 a month.
