MICROSOFT TOUTS WINDOWS 98
By Adnews Staff
Microsoft Canada of Mississauga, Ont. recently launched a national magazine campaign to promote its new Windows 98 operating system that came on the market in late June. The campaign uses the theme: "Works Better, Plays Better." The ads are a three-page vertical gatefold on the inside of the front cover of the magazines. With the vertical gatefold format, readers see one page of Windows 98 information on the right hand side when the front cover is opened. The left side of the page is folded, encouraging the reader to flip it down to reveal the rest of the ad. The campaign was created by The Communiqué Group of Toronto. PR is done by Hill & Knowlton of Toronto. The ads will appear in consumer print publications including Canadian Geographic, Saturday Night, Toronto Life, Cottage Life, NetLife, Sympatico, Harrowsmith and Equinox.
