Motorola, Inc. of Mississauga, Ont. has revamped the company to market its products under one umbrella and will launch new products by early 1999. All of the company's business segments will be combined into one unit called Motorola Communications Enterprise. It will include personal communications, network solutions, global telecom, commercial government and industrial solutions, Internet and networking and network management. In addition, Motorola will introduce two new digital phones in the fourth quarter of the year and two miniature phones in early 1999. The two phones that will be available later this year are called the ST7760 CDMA/AMPS and the ST7790 TDMA/AMPS. The ST7760 weighs 3.7 ounces and provides talk time from 90 to 250 minutes or digital standby time from 40 to 120 hours. Other features include VibraCall Alert, internal charger, headset capability, Caller ID, voice mail icon and text messaging. The ST7790 weighs 3.6 ounces and provides 60 to 250 minutes of talk time and 30 to 110 hours of digital standby time. The phone allows users to receive and store up to 30 messages. The phone also has the same features as the ST7760, as well as multi-key answer, voice encryption, automatic redial, distinctive ringing, short message service, nine ringer style settings, one button callback, speed dialing and message waiting indicator. The two phones to be available next year will weigh 2.7 ounces and will be 4.2 cubic inches in size. Motorola is planning a major ad campaign for the phones in the fall. It will be created by MacLaren McCann of Toronto.
