ROGERS RINGS UP 10,000 CUSTOMERS
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Rogers Cantel says over 10,000 customers have signed up for its Pay As You Go cellular service two weeks after the launch of the program's advertising campaign. The Pay As You Go service was initially launched nationally May 21. The package includes a cellular phone and one Pay As You Go card. Each card provides 60 minutes of calling in Canada including long distance. Each time customers make or receive a call, the cost of the minutes used is automatically deducted from the card's total. When talk time is finished, customers simply buy another card from any Cantel AT&T distributor. Rogers also launched a Pay As You go paging package at the end of May which features a numeric pager with voicemail and six months of service. When a customer needs more time, they purchase a new card. Rogers says paging sales have increased 10% since the launch Pay As You Go. English-language advertising for Rogers is handled by Gee, Jeffery & Partners Advertising of Toronto, while Groupaction of Montreal creates Quebec advertising.
