BRISTOL-MYERS AND SANOFI BATTLE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

Bristol-Myers Squibb of Montreal and Sanofi of Markham, Ont. have teamed up to market a blood pressure treatment drug in Canada. Called Avapro, the drug is virtually free of side effects according to the two companies. Bristol-Myers and Sanofi say that side effects can occur in as many as 70% of patients taking blood pressure medication, causing many of them to stop taking their medication. Avapro will be promoted using ads in medical journals and PR. The ads will be created by Academie-Ogilvy of Montreal. Fleishman Hillard of Toronto will handle PR.
