CMT MAKES CHANGES IN MARKETING DEPARTMENT

Country Music Television has re-jigged its customer marketing and sales promotion department. The specialty channel has moved into the same location as YTV Canada to share some resources such as research. Both stations are owned by Shaw Media of Calgary. In addition, CMT will now be handling its ad sales in-house. Until now, ad sales were handled by the CTV Television Network. The job was moved in-house because CTV felt because of all the changes at the network, it didn't want to handle the job anymore, CMT sales director Brian Bolli told Adnews last week. In addition, it makes more sense economically to handle ad sales in-house. CTV was recently bought by Baton Broadcasting Corp. Jeremy Morton has joined CMT as senior account director. Most recently he held the same position at Showcase and History Television.

Separately, CMT will launch a radio and TV guide campaign in the fall to promote its programming line up. The campaign will be created in-house.
