FORD TO OFFER LIGHTNING TRUCK

U.S.-based Ford Motor Co. plans to upgrade its F-150 line of pick up trucks in 1999. The car maker will launch a redesigned F-150 truck called the Ford SVT F-150 Lightning. The truck will feature a 5.4 litre supercharged and intercooled Triton V-8 engine and will be able to go from zero to 60 miles an hour in seven second, according to Ford. The Lightning will also feature front and rear suspension upgrades, standard four-wheel disc brakes and four-wheel anti-lock brakes, 18-inch wheels and tires and a sport instrument panel. The truck will be developed in the Oakville, Ont. plant. Canadian advertising for Ford is created by Young & Rubicam of Toronto.
