COGECO BUYS TWO TV STATIONS
By Adnews Staff
Cogeco Radio-Television Inc. of Montreal has expanded its number of TV stations. The broadcasting company has bought CKRS-TV and CFRS-TV from Radio Saguenay Ltee. of Jonquiere, Que. Radio Saguenay sold the two TV stations because "it had become clear over the last two years that the operation would become more difficult due to the increase in the number of television services available, audience and advertising revenue fragmentation and declining financial support from the networks to which CKRS-TV and CFRS-TV are affiliated," Radio Saguenay president Michel Baribeau says in release. Cogeco already owns CKSH-TV and CFKS-TV, both of Sherbrooke, CKTM-TV and CFKM-TV, both of Trois-Rivieres, Que., as well as Les Productions Carrefour Inc., which produces programs for several general interest and specialty TV networks. Cogeco's radio stations include CFGL-FM in Montreal and CJMF-FM in the Quebec City region.
