WIC SAYS NO TO CANWEST OFFER

Vancouver-based WIC Western International Communications Ltd. is keeping its radio business - for now. The broadcasting company has turned down an offer by CanWest Global Communications of Winnipeg to purchase WIC's radio business for $200 million. WIC CEO John Lacey indicated in a press release that the board would consider a duopoly by either buying additional radio stations in key market areas or through a joint venture with a suitable partner that already owns stations in those markets.
